Two Birds
This abstract painting depicts two pastel colored birds, with a dark background. With my bird paintings I am exploring color, texture, pattern, movement and shapes.
Acrylic paint on canvas, dimensions: 12 inches by 16 inches, 30.48 cm x 40.64 cm.
My current bird collection was inspired by all of the different birds I see on a daily basis just in my neighborhood in Charleston, South Carolina (USA). There are hawks, osprey, eagles, falcons, all kinds of waterbirds in all colors, doves, red headed woodpeckers, cardinals and more song birds than anywhere else I've ever lived. The birds all have unique songs and ways of movement. Their colors and feather patterns are all different, they come in all sizes and they vary in their behaviors as some like to hide in the leaves, while others sit out on my deck. I find them so inspiring.
*Note: I leave the sides (edges) of my paintings unfinished, I also do not varnish my paintings (I avoid adding any unnecessary chemicals to any of my work). Finally, I do not have any hanging wire on the back of the paintings so that when purchased, the owner can easily have them framed or display them the way they prefer.
