Horse in the Flower Garden
This painting depicts a single horse in a bright flower garden with sunshine and blue sky. My horse paintings explore color, mark-making, texture and movement.
Acrylic paint and black sharpie marker on WOOD, dimensions: 20 inches x 20 inches, 50.8 cm x 50.8 cm.
My horse collection is inspired by my childhood horse, Fancy, and also inspired by the many horse and equine rescues I follow on social media. One of my earliest memories is of my family's quarter horse, Fancy, breathing on my shoulder and the smell of hay. My Aunt also had a Palamino and I use old family photos of her horse as references for some of my paintings. I took riding lessons in both English and Western styles, but really just prefer to spend time with the horses. My horse paintings explore color, mark-making, texture and movement.
*Note: I leave the sides (edges) of my paintings unfinished, I also do not varnish my paintings (I avoid adding any unnecessary chemicals to any of my work). Finally, I do not have any hanging wire on the back of the paintings so that when purchased, the owner can easily have them framed or display them the way they prefer.
